Yulissa Maria Esquivel

June 17, 1998 — December 12, 2015

Our beautiful daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend Yulissa, started her new journey on December 12, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family. Yulissa was born on June 17, 1998 in Pocatello, ID. Her parents are Federico and Elizabeth Esquivel. She was a beloved sister of Marcos and Daniel Esquivel.

She was raised in Pocatello, ID. Attended Schools at Greenacres Elementary, Irving Middle School and was currently enrolled at Highland High School.

Yulissa was born with Rett's syndrome; she fought a hard battle for 17 and half years. She was an incredibly strong little girl from the moment she was born. Yulissa had endured multiple surgeries and hospital stays; which included a six month stay at Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake City. She always managed to beat the odds and overcome every obstacle life put in her path. She fought until the very end but was too tired and ready to go home to where she can be free from pain and a body she was confined to. She was an amazing girl with the ability to light up any room in which she entered. Although she was unable to speak, her big brown eyes and beautiful smile said so much.

Throughout her life she was able to inspire, encourage and give strength to many people. She was truly a blessing to everyone who met her. Yulissa loved hearing her grandma sing to her, soft classical music, people reading to her, being surrounded by her family and she loved eating chocolate. She was an incredibly good listener, she was known as a keeper of many secrets. Yulissa had a very special soul that gave comfort to all. She taught her family and everyone else to never give up hope and always have faith that everything will work out.

Yulissa is preceded in death by her grandfather, Aurelio Esquivel. She is survived by her loving parents Federico and Elizabeth Esquivel, her brothers Marcos (Alex) Esquivel, and Daniel Esquivel, and her niece Ariana Esquivel. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
