Heavenly Father called home, his faithful servant, William (Bill) E. Satchwell (80) who passed away at his home surrounded by family. Bill was born to William & Angus Satchwell in Albion, ID where he was reared with his three siblings Betty, Doris and Burton. Childhood years were spent in the mountains, lakes and streams of the surrounding area where Bill developed a deep and enduring love for hunting, fishing and the great outdoors.
Bill met the love of his life Twila Prescott after a football game at the Rainbow Café in Burley where he applied his legendary charm. After a long courtship Bill and Twila were married June 23, 1950 in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple and will celebrate their 63rd anniversary this month.
Bill and Twila's greatest treasure is their family, six children and their spouses; Tressa Toner (Micheal), Randy Satchwell (Kristine), Tony Satchwell (Susan), Terry Satchwell (Diane), Renee Pennick (Jay) and Chris Satchwell (April) 23 grandchildren Kimberly, Wade, Brandie, Angie, Kortnee, Kristi, Tyler, Andy, Jacquelyn, Brittany, Tami, Scott, David, Carolyn, Christina, Jonathan, Tiffany, Holly, Keili, Spencer, Kamill, Kara, Korrin and 28 great-grand children.
Life accomplishments and interests are varied and many amongst which are; greatest tease in the extended family (pro level) need only ask friends and neighbors, avid gardener, angler, hunter, story teller, good listener, diligent, dedicated hard worker, neighborhood go-to-guy for any repair or tool, Green Bay Packer and Utah Jazz fan. Bill thrived on being of “Service” to others, always and without hesitation. His exemplary life taught each of us the true meaning of charity and Christ like living.
Bill followed the steps of his father and started working for the State of Idaho Department of Highways at age 19 and retired at age 55 to pursue his personal interests and spend time with family & friends. Years of service were given to the LDS Bishop's storehouse and cannery in Pocatello and the Family History Center. Both he and Twila enjoyed many years of service helping others in both of these areas and loved the friendships formed there. Church positions included High Priest, Bishopric, Quorum leadership, Teacher, Scoutmaster and others. Perhaps his most enjoyable of all was family Patriarch always providing a good listening ear, withholding judgment of others sharing the twinkle in his eye and his joyful heart.
It was well known that Bill's health was failing coupled and his firm resolve that doctors and hospitals were not on his A list (nor were cats?). To the end Dad/Grandpa would say “You know, you gotta die sometime!”. And this he did in his home without undo pain and complications. For this we, his family, are grateful and wish to express on behalf of Bill his enduring love and appreciation for each of you as family, friends, neighbors and the body of Christ.
