William "Bill" Ross Haight

William "Bill" Ross Haight, 84, of Pocatello, passed away in his home on October 21, 2019.

He was born in Pocatello, Idaho on August 17, 1935 to Harlo Elisen Haight and Annie Grace Edward. When he was younger, his family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where he went to school. In 1953, he graduated from Idaho Falls High School.

Some of his accomplishments are graduating from college and having a family. Before graduating college, Bill joined the United States Navy in 1956. While in the Navy, he lived in many parts of Texas, as well as on the east coast. While in the Navy, his education grew in many ways.

His main interest after getting out of the service was in wildlife management. Bill was employed by the Bureau of Land Management for 36 years. He was a member of the Native Plant Society and Boy Scouts of America Troop 315. He always enjoyed reading and loved the outdoors.

In 1960, Bill married Patricia Roberts. They divorced in 1983 but remained good friends throughout the years.

Bill was always close to his Catholic Church. He volunteered for many years at Holy Spirit Catholic School, serving lunch to kids. He was proudly known as "Grandpa Bill." He was a member of the Knights of Columbus organization which raised money for many charities and people in unfortunate circumstances. He accomplished this while having much on his own plate. He always made time for his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, whom he loved with all his heart.

Bill is survived by his daughters Debbie Haight of Pocatello, Jacquelyn Haight of Pocatello, and Susan (Jason) Chapman of Pocatello; his son Joseph (Mica) Haight of Everett, Washington; his brother Ed (Paula) Haight of Pocatello; his nieces Heather and Elizabeth, both of Pocatello, as well as many friends in the Pocatello area.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sons.

A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29 at St. Anthony's Catholic Chapel, 504 N. 7th Ave, Pocatello, Idaho. A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, also at St. Anthony's.
