William "Bill" Garrett

October 4, 1952 — February 6, 2021

William "Bill" James Garrett, 68, passed away on February 6, 2021. Bill was born in Coos Bay, Oregon. He was the second born of three children on October 4, 1952. At the age of five his family moved to Springsfield, Idaho where he grew up. He attended and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1971. Shortly after, he joined the Navy Seabee Battalion for four years when he was then stationed in Antarctica for one year. When he returned home, he joined the Navy Reserves and remained with them for another four years putting his complete Navy experience a total of eight years. Bill then moved on to be an electrician for the Union Pacific Railroad for thirty plus years. He retired in his early fifties. Bill married Patricia Harris on July 3, 1974. They had two children, Christopher and Lea Kae. On April 5, 1985, Bill and Patricia were sealed in the LDS temple. Bill was a member of the LDS church for most of his life. Bill loved trucks, cars, building decorations and knick knacks. He had an enormous heart full of love for family and children. The love of family was his greatest blessing. On September 22, 2018 he married Linda Edwards. Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Garrett; brother, Jack (Debbie) Daniels; daughter, Lea Kae (Jim) Hoskins; stepson, Rocky (Heather) Rees; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Garrett; wife, Patricia Harris; parents, James T. Garrett and Alberta Walker, and Jack Daniels; and sister, Vicky McLain Garrett. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11 am at the LDS Alameda Stake Center, off Alameda and Jefferson Road. A viewing will not be held. The Navy Seabees Battalion will be broadcasting a Celebration of Life for Bill on Sunday, February 14, 2021.
