William "Bill" Curtis Anderson

September 27, 1960 — February 2, 2019

Bill was born September 27, 1960, to Newel Carl Anderson and Velma Van Orden Anderson. He weighed only 5 pounds 2 ounces, and was a very sickly baby. In fact, his doctor said he would never live to grow up. His parents were very diligent in his care and he survived several serious illnesses, including pneumonia.

Bill attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Highland High School in 1980. He worked at Deseret Industries for 24 years. He has also worked at the Dollar Tree Store in Pocatello, and served a one-year mission at the LDS Bishop's Storehouse.

He participated in Special Olympics swimming, basketball, bowling, and soccer. He volunteered at the Portneuf Medical Center. He was an assistant T-ball coach for three years. His hobbies included working with his sports cards, where he would enter the names of players in his computer. He also loved to watch movies and listen to music.

He attended Special Primary, Special Mutual and Special Institute. Every Sunday he went to church where he had his own assignments. He never wanted to miss church, even if he was ill.

He loved going to Sally's with all of his friends, and special niece, Julie. He was able to participate in many fun activities and especially loved "Subway Day" when they would walk down and order his favorite sandwich, with Cheetos and root beer for lunch. We appreciate all of the staff there, especially Sally Holmes and his niece Allison.

For the last 16 years, he has lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Steve Lewis and their special daughter, Julie. Julie and Bill were the best of friends and spent many hours watching movies and Julie laughing at Bill's silly jokes. It was fun to hear their conversations and see the love and compassion they had for each other.

Although he was born with a disability, he has a special ability to draw people to him. He has love for everyone. He has so much compassion for others and always wanted to give what he had to help anyone. He always had a hug for anyone who was sad. He has been blessed with many people around him, coaches, teachers, neighbors, religious leaders, care providers, friends, and family who watched out for him so he could be the best he could be. Bill knew no strangers. Whenever he met someone he greeted them with "Hi Friend".

We appreciate all who helped care for and befriend Bill throughout his life. You made a big difference to him!

He was the youngest of nine children. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, parents, brothers, Blair and Sherwin, sisters, Sandra and Shauna, Nephew Jeff Anderson, Great Nephew Bailand Johnson and his "special niece" Julie Marie Lewis. He is survived by sisters, Gloria (David) Johnson, Barbara (Steven) Lewis, Janine (Lane) Palmer, brother Kyle (Rebecca) Anderson, brother-in-law Larry Harris. He also is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews- his "little angels" as he called them.

He has a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the Atonement, which he freely shared with anyone. He loved to read or listen to the scriptures. He served his mission well on Earth and we know he will continue his mission "in glory" on "the other side."

Our family is so blessed to have had such a wonderful brother and uncle and example of Jesus Christ in our lives. He will truly be missed. Bill always wanted to serve a mission preaching the gospel. Now he has his chance as he was called to serve in Heaven on February 2, 2019. He passed away with family at his side.
