Wilford Ballard Jr., "Salad", died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at age 57 in Pocatello, ID at Portneuf Medical Center. He lived in Fort Hall most of his life and attended local schools. Salad went to Kicking Horse Job Corps in Ronan, Montana, where he completed with a Carpentry Certificate. He then worked for Sho-Ban tribes Buffalo Crew as laborer, Burtch Construction in Shelly, ID as a carpenter, and as a wild land firefighter with Sho-Ban Strike Team. He also held many other various jobs. Salad had many interests including hunting, fishing, riding horses, beading, playing the guitar, traveling, participation in his native culture, tanning hides, spending time with his grandchildren, and he especially loved going to the casino. He is also a member of the Native American church. Salad married Patricia Perry, had four children, and was later divorced. He then married and is survived by his wife Georgia Johnson. He is also survived by his sons Wendall Ballard of St. Anthony, ID, and Weston Ballard of Boise, ID, his daughter Wynette Ballard of Blackfoot, ID, sisters Ilene B. Williams of Pocatello, ID, and Tonea Ballard of Fort Hall, ID, brother Wayland Ballard of Toppenish, WA, uncle Willard Ballard of Fort Hall, ID, aunt Ella Sambo Appenay of Fort Hall, ID, and many other numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and ten grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Leota Ponzo Ballard, father Wilford Ballard Sr., brothers Wade M. Ballard, Tonio Douglas, and Clint C. Ballard, sister Antoinette S. Ballard, and son Eric (Perry Ballard) Edmo. There will be a memorial service at the Ballard residence Wednesday, February 20, at 6pm. Burial for Salad will be at 1 pm on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Sunrise Cemetery.
