Wilford Floyd Hunt, 94, long time Pocatello resident, passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2012 at an Orem, Utah health care facility. Wilford was born April 16, 1917, the forth of twelve children to Warren Lee and Edna (Hansen) Hunt in Firth Idaho. Wilford grew up in hard times. He had to leave school in the eighth grade to help his mother with her pie business. He learned how to make the best lemon meringue pie, which became one of the favorites among customers. He later went to work for Western Union as a messenger. during the depression, he would work hard, then turn his paycheck over to his mother to help support the family. In 1935, Wilford met his lifelong sweetheart, Erma, at the Dance gardens. She was the best ballroom dancer he had ever seen! They were married April 17, 1937, one day after he turned 20. Together they had four children; Rodney, Vicki, Edward and Margo. Wilford supported his family as a career Union Pacific worker in the telegraph office. He started out as a messenger, and taught himself morse code which earned him a placement in the telegraph office. He retired after 42 years as communications manager. Wilford was too busy golfing to have any spare time. On vacation days, he would golf up to 72 holes. Wilford had eight "holes in one", with five of them in tournament play. He was a great outdoorsman. He loved to hunt pheasant, deer, and geese. He enjoyed fly fishing well into his 80's and tied his own flies. Anything Wilford would do, he would do it heart and soul. He was an excellent player at duplicate bridge, but gave that up to be a diligent scriptorian. Wilford was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wilford and Erma were sealed for eternity in the Idaho Falls temple in June of 1964. He is survived by his children; Rodney Lynn (Claudia) Hunt, Boise, Idaho, Vicki Ann (Mark) Budge, Spanish Fork, Utah, Edward Scott (Celi) Hunt, Provo, Utah, Margo Kaye (Kory) Neider, Sandy, Utah.
