Wendie grew up in Chubbuck, Idaho and attended Tyhee Elementary and Hawthorne Jr. High. She attended Highland High School, graduating in 1974. Wendie went to Idaho State University where she participated in the LDS Institute and Lamba Delta Sigma Sorority.

Wendie began working during high school at Block's department store. During her time at ISU she worked at the Mini Dome (Holt Arena). She later worked for Albertson's in their floral and deli departments. She worked for the El Cielito Wedding Chapel. She later found one of the great passions of her life, in the work she did as an aide working in elementary schools; she worked as a kindergarten aide at Bonneville Elementary and as a classroom aide at Edahow Elementary. She worked for Heinz in Pocatello before moving to Ogden, Utah, to work at the Sand Castle Academy until she retired.

She frequently provided organ music for the weddings held at the El Cielito Wedding Chapel. Wendie loved performing and listening to many kinds of music.

Wendie was an avid and eclectic reader. She loved animals – especially horses and dogs. She enjoyed traveling and learning about places around the world.

Wendie had a gift for making friends. She valued all people and enjoyed broadening her understanding by seeking friends from many backgrounds and cultures. As a young adult she served as a good will ambassador to Costa Rica. She traveled there and later hosted Costa Ricans who came to the United States. She enjoyed this opportunity and was proud of her service.

While in Pocatello, Wendie was a member of the Civitans. She was an active participant in their chapter and served in several leadership capacities.
