Wendell Alldredge

d. January 10, 2013

Wendell "Windy" Alldredge departed this mortal world on January 10, 2013. He was born October 28, 1929, the oldest of 6 children, to Reed and Annie (Bevan) Alldredge in Tetonia, Idaho. His family moved to Pocatello in 1939. He went to school in Pocatello, until 9th grade. At that time his father suffered a life changing ailment and Wendell had to quit school and work full time to become sole provider to his parents and younger siblings, as his father was no longer able to work. Wendell married Marilyn Smith at her parent's home in Pocatello, Idaho on June 21, 1952. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on Feb. 16, 1980. Wendell worked for Garrett Freight Lines and ANR Truck Lines in Pocatello and in Emeryville, California for 43 years. He and Marilyn lived in California from January 1986 till July 1991, when they returned to live in Pocatello. Wendell and Marilyn enjoyed traveling together during their later married years. Their travels have included trips to Mount Rushmore, Santa Fe, N.M. Atlanta and Macon, GA, Oregon, Washington and Mexico and many other places. They rode their bikes together exploring San Francisco, Angel Island and several other places of interest. They made many trips to visit their children in Oregon, Washington and Georgia. He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In his younger years his hobby was fixing cars and he could always be found working on his or someone else's. This last June, he and his wife Marilyn celebrated their 60th anniversary. Those who knew him best would call him a generous and loving father and grandfather with a wonderful sense of humor. A man who always came to aid of others in need; he will be dearly missed by many. Wendell is survived by his spouse: Marilyn; children: Julie (Norm) Hayball, Fort Hall, Idaho; Carole (Herb) Mann, Macon, Georgia; Norman Alldredge, Pocatello, Idaho; Carla (Ike) Allred, Yakima, Washington; Dixie (Rockie) Moch, Eugene, Oregon; and Kent Alldredge, Meridian, Idaho. He has15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Heber (Carol) Alldredge, Payson, Utah; and Larry (Carole) Alldredge, Boise, Idaho; by his brother in-law LaVern "Red" Phillips, Pocatello; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his two sisters, Colleen Phillips and Nina Stocks and his brother George Alldredge. A Celebration of Life service will occur at a future date. Cremation by his own request, by Colonial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: "The Mother-Daughter Cancer Benefit Fund" at ISU Federal Credit Union, account # 800039. This fund was established to offset some of the costs for Wendell's granddaughter and great-granddaughter who are both undergoing treatment for cancer at this time. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the people who made Wendell's last few years more comfortable. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the LDS Caldwell Park Building. Burial and military honors will follow at Restlawn Memorial following the memorial service.
