Wayne Rasmussen

Wayne Rasmussen, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away June 7, 2018, two days shy of his 80th birthday. He will be truly missed!

Wayne was born June 9, 1938 to Dewey and Fern Rasmussen in Preston, Idaho. When Wayne was 18 he moved to Pocatello where he lived his life.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Kay; his children, Janet Freeman; Arlyn Rasmussen, Gayle Smith; Teresa Baker; Judy Gravis; Dell Clark; Sherry Aldous; Kenna Clark; and Steve Clark; his 32 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ricks.

Wayne retired from Garrett Freight Lines when he was 53, however he really did not retire until 2017. He worked for Phil Meador Toyota until 2017 and when he was not working, he pursued a life of helping others.

Wayne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Kay were sealed for time and all eternity in March, 1998. As a member of the church he served in many callings, and really enjoyed serving as the first counselor in a bishopric. He loved assisting with Girls Camp and other church activities.

Wayne was an avid bowler for many years. He went to national competitions and maintained very high scores. He loved to boat and spend time with his family. Wayne made it his purpose to help others on a daily basis. When he wasn't pursuing those activities, he was engaging in his truest passion, by spending time, (often on long car rides), with his best friend of 42 years and soulmate, his wife Kay.

Please join us to celebrate his life at his funeral service to be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Pocatello 18th Ward LDS Chapel, 3444 Hawthorne Road. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, and beginning at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday at the church. His interment will follow the services at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
