Wayne Edmond Mallavia, 62, passed away at a local hospital on Friday, May 24, 2013, surrounded by his family. Wayne was born March 7, 1951, in Pocatello, Idaho. His parents were Louis P. and Susie Adele Jenson Mallavia. He was raised in Pocatello and Arbon Valley where he helped his grandparents on the farm. He attended Jefferson Elementary, Irving Jr. High, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1969. Later he attended Idaho State University and graduated with a B.A. degree.
Wayne spent many years serving in the U.S. Army and was stationed at various locations in the United States. He also served in Germany and spent 13 months serving in Iraq during the early years of that conflict. He received numerous honors for his service.
Wayne was very handy in making repairs. He could fix about anything. He loved cars and enjoyed repairing them, fixing them up, and especially driving them. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed writing. He had a special interest in and knowledge of history.
Wayne is survived by two sons, Ryan (Audrey) Mallavia, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Zachary Mallavia, Northampton, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his mother Sue Mallavia, Pocatello, and by siblings Connie Mallavia, Lincoln City, California; Don (Jan) Mallavia, Gig Harbor, Washington; and Dr. David (Jodi) Mallavia, Page, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Hillary Mallavia, his grandson Balin Anthony Mallavia, his father Dr. Louis P. Mallavia, and his grandparents, Don and Connie Jenson and Floren and Maria Mallavia.
We love you, Wayne, and we will miss you.
