Wayne Lewis

Wayne R Lewis was born on October 6, 1954 in Blackfoot, ID to loving parents Harry Neil and Dorothy A Rowe Lewis. He grew up as one of seven children. He loved his siblings Randy, Rick, Peggy, Jacque, Larry and Barry. He often told his children stories of the mischief they would all cause together growing up.

On September 29, 1984 he married his eternal companion Vicki Dannette Shaffer Lewis. Wayne had six children Casey (Carrie) Lewis, Tina (Todd) Adams, Ginnie (Craig) Hawkins, Todd Lewis, Brian (Caitlin) Lewis and Sarah Lewis. On his forty-third birthday he received the greatest gift when his first grandchild was born and he was given the title Grandpa. The following years brought a total of twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Wayne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many callings, yet his favorite by far was serving as a scout leader and helping prepare the youth for the future. When life threw him a curve ball he returned to school and earned his Associates in Civil Engineering. Giving his wife, kids and grandkids one more reason to be so proud of him.

On April 7, 2020 Wayne R Lewis left this world after a valiant fight against cancer. He was welcomed home by many loved ones including his father Harry Neil and two brothers Larry and Rick. For those of us left behind, we are trying to pick up the pieces after loosing such an honorable man. We will do our best to follow the lessons he taught us by the way he lived.

Family was the most important part of Dad's life. He asked us to always take care of each other when he was gone. Especially his mother who he loved and cared for greatly. He always had time for family. He taught his children and grandchildren to both work and play hard in life. He found great joy when he was able to build a cabin in Island Park, in the hopes that he could gather his family together there for years to come. He loved to tease everyone and taught us that each day was a blessing to be enjoyed and treasured. He blessed each of us with a love for the outdoors. Now we have many memories of time together enjoying nature and can always feel closer to Dad as we look at the world around us and feel the sun shining down on us.

Dad was always looking for ways to help those around him. He taught us to serve others and the joy of doing so in secret. He accepted everyone just as they were and never casted judgement upon them. This quality blessed him with many friends and co-workers who he respected and who respected him. Many of these people knew him as Pup. Due to the crazy state of the world, currently we are unable to gather with these amazing people. It is our hope that we will be able to join together to hold a Celebration of Life in his honor at a later date.

Dad, you always did your best to protect us. You are the one we turned to for help, guidance and when we just needed someone to be with. We will do our best to honor your legacy until we can be together again. We love you always. Thanks for all you taught us. We will be okay Dad.
