Willard "Wayne" Jolley, 77, of Pocatello, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013. He was born on September 9, 1935 in Burley, Idaho, to Anne Jane Thompson and Willard Jolley. Wayne graduated from Burley High School and LDS Seminary. In high school he played basketball and football. Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Osterhaut, on November 4, 1953, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. From the union of Joanne and Wayne, three children were born: Susan, Steven, and Jill. He entered the United States Army on December 3, 1954, and was in Fort Ord, CA, and Fort Benning, GA. He was honorably discharged on December 10, 1956. After the army, he began working for Mountain Bell Telephone and Telegraph in Burley. His most recent assignment was the phone man from Inkom to the Utah border. He retired with 40 years of service from US West in 1993. Wayne was active with the Boy Scouts in Pocatello and McCammon. He was on the Board of Directors at Southpark. He was the Marsh Valley High School rodeo advisor and chairman of the McCammon Rodeo. He also served on the McCammon City Council from 1994 to 1999. Wayne was the Grand Marshall of the Marsh Valley Rodeo Parade in 1994. He loved hunting and went every year with his hunting buddies Mel Manning and Dick Smith, Dennis Shappart and also with Jack Cochran. Wayne liked snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, and spending time at the Blackfoot Reservoir. He had a part time job after retirement at Vicker's Western Wear in the pawn shop where he enjoyed working and visiting with the customers. He liked to tinker in his shop. Wayne was a family man and kindly loved his family more than words can express. Wayne is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne; daughter, Susan (Pat) Nay of McCammon; daughter, Jill (Steve) Riggott of Pocatello; sister Donna (Howard) Wilkens of Paul, ID; sister-in-law, Connie Taylor, whom he considered his little sister; 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Steven, sister Marjorie Morgan, brothers Frank, Dale, and Gary, and an infant brother and sister. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 19, 2013, at the LDS Meadowbrook Ward Chapel, 300 E Chapel St in Pocatello. A visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave, and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow services at the Norton Cemetery in McCammon, Idaho. Military honors will be provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
