Wayne Jay Waddoups

Wayne Jay Waddoups, 82, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018, surrounded by loving family.

Wayne was, first and foremost, a family man. He grew up in Lost River in a family of 12 kids. Family was always important to him. He loved his parents and siblings and had strong relationships with all of them throughout his life. Wayne and his wife, Verlene, were married 61 wonderful years. They have 8 children, 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Wayne was an educator, dedicating his life as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. In 1996, he received Idaho's National Distinguished Principal Award. Wayne always said the salary of an educator wouldn't make him rich, but he felt rich seeing kids succeed.

Wayne had many hobbies. He loved to sing and had a song for everything. He built his own house in Firth and remodeled other houses. Wayne and Verlene took woodworking and cake decorating classes together and had their own upholstery business. Whatever he did, he did with Verlene.
Wayne was a man of faith. His testimony of Jesus Christ was unwavering. He taught us all to forgive, to love others, and to rely on Christ. We're so grateful for the knowledge that we will see him again, and that our family will be together forever. Wayne, we love you "more than yesterday, less than tomorrow."

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Victory Ward LDS Chapel at 4600 Victory Avenue in Chubbuck, Idaho. A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery.
