Wayne LaMar Armstrong, 59, local businessman of Pocatello, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at a local hospital following a battle with cancer. Wayne was born oldest of seven children of Richard LaMar and Lea Joy (McKinlay) Armstrong in Pocatello. He attended Pocatello schools, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1967. He also attended ISU for three years. He married Paula Getty August 30, 1968 in Pocatello and they were blessed with a daughter, Rindy. Wayne worked various jobs: A E Body Shop, Boise Cascade, and for the Union Pacific Railroad. He has owned and operated the Pocket for the last 20 years. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Foundation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the Southeastern Idaho Mule Deer Foundation. Wayne loved the out of doors, including hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved his mountain home up Mink Creek where he enjoyed gardening and all of the wildlife. Wayne was a hard working man of integrity and generous to others. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his girls. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Paula Getty Armstrong, Pocatello, daughter, Rindy (Mark) Davie, Pocatello, granddaughters, Mattison and Mallery Davie, Pocatello, father, LaMar Armstrong, Pocatello and mother, Lea Armstrong, Salt Lake City, UT, siblings, Kelie Hobson, Pocatello, Rick (Patti) Armstrong, Salt Lake City, UT, Robin Armstrong, Pocatello, K.C. (Lisa) Armstrong, New Jersey, Marty (Linda) Armstrong, Boise, ID and Russell (Christine) Armstrong, Pocatello. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elaine Armstrong, Richard Armstrong, James McKinlay and Hazel McKinlay. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2009 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 2005 S. Fourth Ave, Pocatello. There will be a visitation Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery following the services.
