Pocatello, Idaho. -- Warren "Lee" Schwendig, 67, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2012, at his home in Pocatello, Idaho, surrounded by family and friends. Lee was born Sept. 1,1945, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His parents were Edd and Lee Clare Schwendig. Lee attended elementary and high school in Terreton, Idaho and was among the first graduating class in 1963, from West Jefferson High School, where he was the first Student Body President. Lee continued his education as a Business Administration graduate of ISU in 1967. He earned his Master's in Business Administration from the University of Wyoming in 1968; and his Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Nebraska in 1979. Lee worked the family farm in Monteview with his father until 1971 and continued the family farming operation as well as partnering with his brother, Jay Schwendig, in the C&S Ranch operation from1970 until 2000. Lee began teaching in the Marketing Department at ISU in 1968 and continued there until his retirement in 2003. He resided in Pocatello from 1972 until his death. Lee was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and companion. He is survived by his life companion, Kris Phelps; his sister, Joyce Griffiths and his sister-in-law, Virginia Schwendig, both of Idaho Falls. From his marriage to Leann Hoopes, Lee leaves two children, daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Darren Bollinger of Twin Falls, and a son, Jayson, and his wife, Audra Thorpe Schwendig of Boise. He is survived by three grandsons, Chayton and Braedon Bollinger; and Jaxon Schwendig. . Also, he leaves three nieces; Dani Lassetter, Jorja Lewis Cooling and Cary Wilhoit ; and a nephew, John Schwendig; four great nephews and two great nieces; and a number of lifelong friends, all, who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, nephew, and great nephew Lee was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. In his retirement, he took up woodworking, reloading, and creating farm equipment replicas used on the family farm that he shared with his family, particularly his grandsons, and friends. His love of life, family, and friends; infectious smile and sense of humor, along with a unique ability to engage and embrace all who knew him will leave lasting and treasured memories. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South 4th Street in Pocatello at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 29, 2012. Family will be available at 1:00pm. Following the service, there will be a reception at the Clarion Hotel, located at 1399 Bench Road, in Pocatello. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 1:00pm at the West Jefferson Cemetery in Terreton for a graveside remembrance.
