Wanda Roberts

d. January 31, 2014

Wanda Osborne Roberts, 85, passed away on January 31, 2014, in Burley, Idaho. Wanda was born December 17, 1928, in Ashton, Idaho, to Steven L. Osborne and Juanita Olsen Osborne. She was raised in a loving home in Ashton, Idaho. As a young girl her father worked for the Forest Service, so in the winters her family lived in Salmon, Preston, and Heise, Idaho. She graduated from Ashton High School in 1946 and attended Ricks College before marrying Edwin H. Roberts in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 12, 1948. They moved to Pocatello, where she worked with her husband, Ed, in their business, Roberts TBA, at Oak Street and Wayne Avenue. Her duties at the business were keeping the books, running for parts, pushing and pulling stranded cars, and visiting with and becoming friends with customers. Wanda retired from her work at Roberts Service when her husband passed away in 1991 and the business was sold. Although Wanda worked many long hours, she never wavered in her devotion to her family. She found great joy in her children and knowingly spoiled all of her grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren remember her as a gracious hostess with her door always open to family and friends. No one left her home without a meal and a treat. She laughed freely and found enjoyment in things small and simple. Wanda was known as a devoted and loyal friend. She looked for the lonely or the forgotten and gave them her care. Wanda was a 40 year member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was proud of her ancestors and enjoyed sharing her family history with others. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she accepted many callings. Through these callings she developed lifelong friendships with those that she served and those with whom she served alongside. These past few years she agonized over her memory loss, but she never forgot her testimony of Jesus Christ. She never forgot to keep His commandments and expressed gratitude for her many blessings. Surviving Wanda are her children, Steven E. (Beverly) Roberts, Pocatello, and Norma Jean (Alan) Andersen, Burley; 13 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lee (Nadine) Osborne, Logan, UT, Gene (June) Osborne, Arizona and one sister, Janet Petersen, Utah. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Edwin H. Roberts.
