Wanda Renee Tharp, 79, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at a local Care Center in Pocatello. She was born in Rexburg, ID. on April 6, 1935 to Carl and Wanda Grover. Her family moved to Pocatello in 1946 when she was 11 years old. She attended and graduated from Pocatello High School and has lived in Pocatello since. Renee married Bobby Duane Tharp on January 22, 1954. They were married for 54 years. Renee worked at the Chief Theater for 5 years. She then worked for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator for 35 years until she retired. After retiring, she worked for Walmart as a cashier until she retired again in April of this year. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved to garden, read, crochet and knit. Renee is survived by her daughter, Bobbett Bowen, Farmington, NM; son, David Tharp, Auckland, NZ; sister, Karen Helmandollar, Lodi, CA; step-brother, Gordon Curtis, Twin Falls, ID; 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; daughter, Paula Vollmer; son, Kurt James Tharp; mother, Wanda Peterson Curtis; father, Carl Grover; step-father, Albert Curtis; sisters, Betty Estrada, Arleen Holmes; brother, Carl Jay Grover; and step-brother, Don Curtis. A viewing will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. 208-233-1500. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Cedar LDS 4 th Ward Building, 550 W. Cedar St. Pocatello, Idaho with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Condolences can be made to the family online at www.colonial-funeralhome.com
