Wana Jean Reier, 87, passed away November 21, 2023 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Chubbuck, Idaho.
Wana was born December 16, 1935 in Carroll, Iowa to Lester Callaway and Mary Carson. She graduated from Carroll High School where she enjoyed gymnastics and basketball. After graduation, Wana moved to Omaha, Nebraska.
While in Omaha, she met Donald Dean Reier. It was love at first sight, the two courted for a while before marrying on June 21, 1964. Their son, William Foster Reier was born in March of 1966. Their daughter, Jolene Kay joined the family in June of 1968. From the blessing of her two children, she was blessed with four beautiful granddaughters who gave her two wonderful great granddaughters and two wonderful great grandsons.
In 1970, Don was transferred with Union Pacific Railroad to Pocatello. Don and Wana built a full and happy life in Pocatello. They were active members of the Grace Lutheran Church. Wana had a passion for working with children, she was the school secretary for the Grace Lutheran School for many years. She found another opportunity working for Farm Bureau Insurance as a secretary where she remained until she retired.
Wana lived life to the fullest and loved to travel. She was also an avid supporter of ISU athletics and loved going to football games and women’s basketball games.
Wana is survived by her son, William (Michelle) Reier of Pocatello; daughter, Jolene (Perry) Swift of Rapid City, SD; granddaughters, Kendra Gelles of Pocatello, Makayla Gelles of North Platte, NE, Kimberly (Robert) Ramos of Pocatello, and Danielle (Hank) Steinmetz of Chubbuck; and four great grandchildren, Jaxton Gelles, Whylie Leslie, Dawn Ramos, and Abel Ramos.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Reier; her parents; and her sister, Pat.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Rd. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2023 at Wilks Funeral Home.
