Walter A. Stratten, 86, passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, after a short and sudden illness at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
He was born June 2, 1924, in Pocatello, the son of Walter A. and Janet C. Holmquist Stratten. He was raised, educated and lived his entire life in Pocatello.
He married Jean Wynn on Nov. 30, 1945, in Pocatello.
Walt worked for the Naval Ordinance Plant during World War II, as a mechanic and wrecker driver for C. Ed Flandro Ford and for Westinghouse at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. Above all else, Walt loved and enjoyed his family. A good day for Walt was when he could help a family member, friend or neighbor. He also enjoyed keeping his yard perfectly maintained and fishing.
He is survived by his sister Gladys of Pocatello; his wife of 65 years, Jean, of Pocatello; his daughter Monica of Pocatello and son Jeff of Boise; his grandchildren Micah and Whitney and their spouses Aaron and Jessica and one great grandson Elijah, all of Pocatello.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Janet; sister, Ruth; brothers, Frank and Wilford; and his dog Willy.
