Wade Gibson Allred

Wade Gibson Allred, 77, passed away peacefully at Portneuf Medical Center on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.

Wade was born October 6, 1933 in Ogden, Utah to Frederick Wade and Annie May Allred. The family moved to Idaho and he was raised on the family farm in Rigby. Wade served in the US Navy from 1951 " 1955 as a seaman on the USS Ross. While in the service, he met his loving wife, Joan Miller. They were married on December 3, 1953 in Winchester, Virginia. After his discharge from the Navy they moved to Idaho. Wade attended Idaho State College and studied auto body repair. In 1961, along with his business partner, Jack Lewis, he opened Modern Collision. The name was later changed to Jade Auto and his son Ronald manages the shop today. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the business.

He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Palisades, playing with his grandchildren and managing his business. He was the envy of all his neighbors for his beautiful yard. He will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor and quick wit. Not everyone knew his middle name was Gibson because he was affectionately known as “Wade the Great.”

Wade is survived by his wife, Joan; two sons, Allan (Shannon) and Ronald (Becky); two daughters, Sharon (Ron) Weaver, Pocatello, Idaho and Shirleen (Dick) Coleman, Hailey, Idaho; two sisters, Beatrice Baldwin, Kaysville, Utah and Janette (Guy) Brinkerhoff, Murray, Utah; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Wade was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jack Allred and granddaughter, Rebecca Marie Weaver.

The family asks that donations be made in his name to the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund c/o Portneuf Health Care Foundation 850 E. Young Street Pocatello, Idaho 83201 or the Idaho State Veterans Home 1957 Alvin Ricken Drive Pocatello, Idaho 83201.
