Virgie Ann Hughes, 76, passed away on January 20, 2025.
Virgie Ann Hughes was born on February 25, 1948, in Salina, Utah and passed away on January 20, 2025, in Pocatello, Idaho. On December 9, 1966, she married Rex Elza Hughes in Salina, Utah. After they were married, they lived in Utah, Montana, and Idaho, ultimately settling in Pocatello, Idaho in 1974.
Virgie worked at AMI / ON Semiconductor for 33 plus years in various positions. She enjoyed her job and built many friendships.
She enjoyed reading, playing games, had a love for lottery scratch tickets, camping, watching movies and game shows, listening to country music, eating out and socializing, loved family get together, and drinking Diet Coke / Cherry Coke. She was the happiest spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Virgie had a love for life, treated everyone with kindness, she did not know a stranger, and had the most loving heart. Her house was always full of friends and family. Virgie’s house was the neighborhood hangout. She was a foster mom to Scott and David Vitale and loved them as her own.
During the past year, she struggled with many illnesses and surgeries but never complained and had a positive attitude. She was a fighter and so brave. She will be deeply missed. Many hearts are broken as she touched many lives. You never knew what name you were going to be called when visiting Virgie because she could not get names right. She had the best sense of humor and made everyone laugh.
Virgie was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Clair Kimball and Annie Francella Jensen Kimball, Brother Vernon Kimball, Sisters Bonnie Joy Kimball Veater, Beth Elaine Kimball, Lenore Kimball, Thelma Kimball, Norma Joyce Kimball, and Husband, Rex E. Hughes.
She is survived by her children: Travis Rex (Cassie) Hughes of Pocatello, Annie Irene Hughes Williams (Tom) of Pocatello, and Tracy Dewey Hughes (Heidi) of Twin Falls. Grandchildren: Audrey Anne Loveday, Alexis Brook Hughes, Tyler Dewey Hughes, Marissa Marie (Josh) Powell, and Lydia A. Hughes. Great Grandchildren: Canyon Rexlan Charles Hughes, Jocelyn Alice Packer, Sophia River Powell, and Poppy Ann Powell. Brothers, Glenn Kimball and Keith Kimball.
A viewing will take place on Thursday evening, January 30, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, also at Wilks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Idaho State Veteran’s Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. in Blackfoot, Idaho, followed by a gathering for family and friends at The Hive Venue, 383 E. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. where food and drinks will be provided.
