(Verna) Evelyn Crane, 97, passed away December 4, 2015. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho October 14, 1918 to Verna Ellen Sinclair and Leon Nelson. She grew up in the Teton Basin and came to Pocatello to go to school where she met and married her eternal companion, Othella Ervin Crane on June 27, 1938. She is survived by her children, Evelyn (James) Wilson, Dexter (Delores) Crane, Tanna (Eugene) Fountain, Barry (Wendy) Crane, Chriss (Donald) Lewis, Mary (Rodney) Sorensen; sisters, Coleen Smart and Marva Skinner; 23 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Paul; husband, Othella Ervin Crane; brothers, Jesse Nelson, Kenneth Nelson, Theo Nelson, Glen Nelson; sisters, June Pullman, Doris Stead, Donna Fowler, and Marvel Baker. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held jobs in Relief Society, cub scouts, music director, and Stake positions. She and Ervin went on a mission to Odessa, Texas and served in the Idaho Falls temple for several years. With her love of music, she was either teaching or playing piano or organ in church. She sang with the Tyhee Trio with Cleo Burk and Tanna Fountain. What she enjoyed most was spending time with the children. She worked hard. She always had a huge garden and made quilts for all her children. Evelyn would pick up driftwood making them come alive with scenes. She later took up painting of landscapes. She touched many lives and influenced everyone she came in contact with. The family would like to thank the Brookdale senior living for the love and care they gave her. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500.
