Verdi Walton Dayton

Verdi was born June 14, 1944 to Parley Vern and Ina Walton. Verdi met and married Don Ferrin. They had one child before they separated. Verdi later met and married the love of her life, Russell Gerald (Bud) Dayton. They blended their families together, his three daughters, Eileen, Rebecca, and Jill, and Verdi's daughter, Hollie. They had two more children, Sivi and Teri. Bud and Verdi were sealed in the Logan Temple. She completed her earthly mission and was reunited with Bud on October 20, 2020.

Verdi loved being a mother, but her favorite title was grandma! You could often find her with a grandchild or two in tow. Teaching them to drive when mom and dad wouldn't, making them breakfast early on a Saturday morning, helping them learn how to do farm work and take care of animals and countless other life lessons we'll not soon forget. Many fond memories with grandma were made camping, playing games and up at the ski hill where she ran the kitchen with the best food around. Verdi and Bud were well known for their attendance at CHS sporting events, and their selfless service to all. It didn't matter the time of day, Verdi welcomed all into her home. She was a strong lady who made the best of life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. But most of all her Children and Grandchildren.

Verdi was preceded in death by her husband Bud Dayton; parents, Vern and Ina Walton; her brothers, Russ and Kirk; step-daughter Eileen Larson; granddaughter Hilary McIntosh.

She is survived by her sister, Louise (Gary) Barnes; sisters-in-law Melba (Merrill) Clark and Ida Walton; her daughters, Rebecca (Johnny) Petersen, Jill (Neal) Black, Hollie (Jim) Watterson, Sivi (Wayne) Harmon, Teri (Shane) Viehweg; her 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, October 24, 2020 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 725 East Main Street, Cokeville, Wyoming 83114. For those who are unable to attend the funeral service. Webcasting of the service will be availible online though Verdi's Tribute Page.
