Veda J. Rupp

August 8, 1925 — November 30, 2017

Veda Jensen Rupp, 92, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father, her loving husband Harold and many loved ones on November 30, 2017 in Chubbuck, Idaho. She was born August 8, 1925 in the home that she resided in for 87 years in Tyhee. Her parents were Henry Jensen and Caroline Ada Fryer Jensen. She was the fifth child out of seven in the family. She attended Tyhee Elementary School and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1943. She married Harold L. Rupp on April 15, 1943 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Veda served in many positions in the church. She was the Ward Chorister for many years. She served as the Relief Society Chorister, a Sunday School Teacher, Stake Mutual Chorister and as the M Men and Gleaner leader.

Harold and Veda were partners in the family farm (Hillcrest Acres) along with Veda's parents and her brother Melville and his wife Ora Jensen. They grew crops and also ran a herd of approximately 350 head of cattle. In 1950 they had a well dug and installed a sprinkler system with hand lines to irrigate a large portion of the land. It was the first sprinkler system in the area. Many of the teenage boys from the Tyhee flats along with their 3 daughters and 3 sons helped move the pipe. When her parents decided to retire, Harold, Veda, Melville and Ora purchased the farm. They worked on the farm, along with their six children and had many wonderful experiences that she loved to share with others.

After retirement, they leased the farm and they loved to spend their summers and falls at their cabin in Island Park, fishing and hunting and they traveled south in the winter until Harold passed away in April, 1994. Veda continued to spend her summers in Island Park and loved to travel with some of her children. She lived in the family home until 2012 when she moved to Cotton Wood Cove in Chubbuck. She loved the company of the residence and enjoyed the many activities. In April, 2017 she moved into Elegant Living until her death.

She is survived by her 6 children: Lana (Roger) Haney, Christine Petersen, Susan (Phil) Knapp, Lavelle (Jackie) Rupp, Henry (Lori) Rupp and Rodney (Marcy) Rupp; 28 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Veda was preceded in death by her loving husband Harold, her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters, 3 son-in-laws, William Buckland, Ted Petersen and Ronall Olsen, a grandson, Heath Wellard and a great granddaughter Abigail Cummins.

Veda was under the care of Encompass Home Health and Hospice. The family would like to thank their staff and the staff at Elegant Living for their loving care for Mom.
