Vaughn Lamar Smith

Vaughn Lamar Smith passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025. He was born on December 15, 1937 in St Anthony, Idaho to Arvella Stoddard Smith and TB Smith.

In 1939 the family moved to Pocatello. He attended schools in Pocatello and before graduation joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 and received his GED while in the Navy.

In 1957 he married Neline Bringhurst and together they had four children. Vaughn returned from over seas and received an honorable discharge from active duty in December 1959. He remained in the Naval Reserves until 1962.

In 1960 he entered the Painters Apprenticeship program and worked as a painter until he retired.

Vaughn is survived by his wife Neline, his children Michael (Maria) Smith and Tonya Carlson all of Pocatello, Idaho, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Smith and Donald Smith, a brother Bert Smith and his parents.

A graveside service will be held in the Spring. Details to be announced.
