Valine Anderson

October 13, 1936 — June 14, 2018

Valine Malan Anderson, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 after a valiant battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Valine was born on October 13, 1936 in Pocatello, Idaho to Lewis Bartens and Elva Stephenson Malan.

Valine grew up in the Pocatello area attending local schools, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1954. After high school, Valine attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah for one semester. In 1956 she reconnected with lifetime friend Dennis Anderson and began dating. Valine and Dennis quickly fell in love and married later that same year. They lived in Oceanside California for a year and then Valine returned to Pocatello as Dennis served in the US Marines and was deployed to Okinawa, Japan. In 1958 Valine and Dennis moved to Moab, Utah and lived there for five years as Dennis helped his father build an LDS Chapel. They returned to Pocatello for good in 1963. Valine spent her entire life serving her family. She had 5 children, and was especially blessed to have 2 special needs sons Garth and Rick. Taking care of her family is what she loved to do and all who knew her know that she was the best mom in the world.

During her life, Valine served in many different callings for the LDS Church including Relief Society President, Primary President, Chorister, Pianist, Special Needs Primary, Family History Center, Librarian, and many others. Valine loved serving in the church and enjoyed serving her family, friends, and neighbors. Valine was a great example in the way she lived her life and touched many lives.

Valine is survived by sons Todd (Trudy) Anderson of Chubbuck, Rick Anderson of Chubbuck, Brent (Lesa) Anderson of West Jordan, Utah, daughter Dennalee (Danny) Rupp of Boise, 20 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Valine was preceded in death by husband Dennis Austin Anderson, parents Lewis and Elva Malan, parents in law Austin and Beth Anderson, son Garth Anderson, grandson Carson Anderson, and granddaughter Kendra Odekirk.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 23rd 2018 at the North Pocatello LDS Stake Center located at 4890 Whitaker Road in Chubbuck. Family will receive friends at a viewing Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wilks Funeral Home located at 211 West Chubbuck Rd in Chubbuck. They will also receive friends at a viewing prior to funeral services on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Stake Center. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
