Utahna L. Hibbs, 61, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at a local care facility. Utahna was born in Pocatello, Idaho on August 12, 1955.
She was raised in Tyhee and Blackfoot. She attended school in Blackfoot and graduated in 1973. She then attended Boise State for 2 years. From 1977 to 1979 she worked at Blackfoot South as a therapy aid. She then moved to Evanston, Wyoming where she worked security for the Wyoming State Hospital. In 1998 she moved back to Pocatello when she began work at the INEL, until retirement in 2012.
She married Robert A. Hibbs on July 24, 1979 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Utahna was a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes. She enjoyed horses, camping and fishing. She loved driving her Polaris Ranger around with her kids and having lunch with her granddaughter.
The family wishes to thank her best and dearest friend to the end, Laura Lewis, as well as all the professionals at the Idaho Kidney Center and the Gateway Care Center.
Utahna is survived by: husband, Robert A. Hibbs of Pocatello; daughter, Jo (John) Farish of Blackfoot; son, Niccolas Hibbs of Pocatello; granddaughter, Madison Smith of Blackfoot; mother, L. Jane Mittelstedt of Blackfoot; nephew & niece, Richard & Michelle Mittelsted of Pocatello; niece, Dixie Mittelstedt of Blackfoot; an uncle and aunt; many cousins, great nieces and nephews; and all the kids that adopted her as their "Ma."
She was preceded in death by: father, R.H. Mittelstedt; grandparents, Joseph & Rosella Cutler; aunt and uncles, Roy & Doris Cutler, Yvonne Oliver, and Floyd & Gladys McDaniel; brother, Bud (Della) Mittelstedt.
Utahna loved the warm weather and so graveside services will be held in the spring at 11:00 am on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Rd. Condolences may be sent to the family online at wilksfuneralhome.com.
