Trudy E. Blarer

Gertrud Elsa Kistler Blarer "Trudy" was born January 14, 1926 in Reichenburg, Ct. Switz, Switzerland. She is the second child with 3 brothers and 2 half-sisters. As a young girl she enjoyed playing with dolls and playing in the yard. In school she was a master of mathematics and could calculate in her mind without any paper to figure on. She also loved to run and was a track star and took 1st place in several county races. When she was 14 years of age, her father died and she began working in a textile factory to help the family financially. This was a difficult time for her because she loved school very much and was a grade "A" Student. She met Josef Blarer at a county animal fair and they became quick friends. They married in the Einsiedeln Catholic Cathedral on December 1, 1951 in a double wedding. For their first year of marriage they lived with dad's widowed mother. They eventually had saved enough money that they decided to take a honey-moon and went to Canada. They traveled by boat to Newfoundland then by train to Alberta Canada. After a few years they moved to Ferine, British Columbia where dad worked as a lumber jack. Mom was a cook in the logging camp. While in Ferine the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints taught them the Gospel and they converted to the Church.

After being in Canada for seven years they decided to move to the United States and lived in Thayne, Wyoming a few miles from Elder Haderlie's parents home; the Haderlie's acted as their sponsors. They adopted Dean in 1961 and Dane in 1963. In 1965 dad took a transfer with the Caribou National Forest Service and move to Pocatello, Idaho. Later in 1965 they purchased 3.5 acres in Fort Hall where they lived, worked and played until 2016 when they moved to their new home in Chubbuck, Idaho. Mother worked for Tyhee Elementary School as a second cook in the kitchen. Many friendships were developed with the kids, many of which would visit them as they grew up and started families of their own.

Mother had many church calling's including Primary Teacher, Sunday School teacher and she also served in several Relief Society presidencies. In their last few years living in Fort Hall, mom and dad taught a youth Sunday school class in the 44th ward where they made deep connections with the great young people whom they taught. The gospel and being a citizen of the United States of America were two of mom's greatest events. She was always a deeply patriotic person. She loved and taught her boys, Dean and Dane to be good and honorable men; she served faithfully in everything that she did at home, in church and her community. Mother passed away June 10, 2018 very peacefully at home on Jasmine Drive with family members by her side. We express our love all who have given service and helped them throughout her life.

Funeral services For Trudy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Chubbuck 10th Ward LDS Chapel at 4773 Independence in Chubbuck, Idaho. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road and one hour prior to services at the church.
