Tresa Rae Olsen

Tresa Rae Thornton Olsen, 97, Chubbuck, passed January 21, 2017. She was born January 4, 1920 in Spokane, Washington to Joseph H Thornton and Lucy Caroline Hess. Tresa and her twin sister, Mae, were the youngest of five children. Tresa was a member of the LDS church. Tresa attended school in Pocatello through the 11th grade. When she was 17 she married her sweetheart Rex W Olsen in September 1937. They had two children, Larry Roger and Marilyn Rae. They were married for 58 years until Rex's passing. She worked a few summers at the Ross Park Taco Stand, and volunteered at the hospital for many years. Grandma loved fishing, reading, dancing, going to Club, trips to Yellowstone and California to visit her son and grandchildren. When the grand and great-grandchildren arrived, she delighted in spending time with them. Grandma kept her sharp mind up to her passing. Grandma and her daughter Marilyn were very close, taking care of each other until Marilyn's passing. She enjoyed going shopping and doing lunches with her nieces. She loved visiting and reminiscing about the old days. The past few years she had been scrapbooking Pocatello History. Tresa adored her cat Toby. She is survived by grandchildren, Roger (Valerie) Olsen, Cynthia (George) Moya, Brian (Tracy) Olsen; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Olsen, Jacob Olsen, Jenelle Olsen, Arielle (Jonathon) Lamech, Bailey Linson, Rex Olsen and Vianne Olsen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; brother; husband; and children. The family would like to express gratitude to those who helped, loved and cared for Grandma. Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 27 at 3:00 P.M. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. The Family will receive friends one hour before services at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave., Pocatello.
