Timothy “Tim” Quenten Andres, 68, of Pocatello, ID passed away on January 17th, 2025, one day shy of 50 years married to his sweetheart, Paula Marie Gayman.
Tim was born on November 28, 1956 in Duluth, Minnesota to Ralph William Andres and Joyce “Sue” Griffin. He lived in Southern California most of his childhood and moved to Redding, CA in 1972 to live with his grandparents Ivy “Hap” and Theresa Griffin.
Tim graduated from Enterprise High School in 1974. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army in 1975 and served until honorably discharged in 1977 where he served as an instructor in the armor school in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Following his discharge, he went to work for Redding Kenworth as a mechanic and later joined CalFire in 1988 in the Tehama Glenn Unit also as a mechanic, moving up the ranks to an HFEO (bulldozer operator), and at the time of retirement in 2012, held the title of Fire Captain.
Before joining the army, Tim married Paula Marie Gayman on January 18th, 1975 in Redding, CA. They met in Mr. Loftis’ history class their senior year of high school. Over the years, they were blessed with seven children and later, 16 grandchildren.
Tim had many passions and hobbies, most notable his love for aviation. He earned his private pilot license and built his own aircraft, a Cozy Mark IV, tail number N175PT, which won the AirVenture OshKosh 2012 Plans Built Champion award. Tim was active in the Cozy and Experimental Aircraft community, often offering guidance and sharing his wealth of knowledge to other aircraft builders.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tim served many positions over the years including Elders Quorum President and Bishopric Counselor. He was always looking for ways to serve his family and community, often helping with home and car repairs, and blessing his friends and family with his famous sourdough bread.
After retirement, Tim and Paula enjoyed their time traveling around the United States in their RV and spending as much time as possible with their 16 grandchildren. More than anything Tim loved to gather his family together for food and laughter. As people departed, he was known to say, “Glad you got to see me. Come back when you can’t stay so long!”
Tim is survived by wife, Paula; children, Jennifer (Jon) Malan, Matthew (Erica), Jeremy (Amanda), Melissa, Eric (Kim), and Kevin (Haley); 16 grandchildren; sisters, Heidi (Terry) Ennis, and Gretchen Martin; great aunt, Alta Thorpe.
He is preceded in death by daughter, Elizabeth; sister, Suzanne; parents, Ralph Andres and Sue Griffin Walker; and grandparents Ivy “Hap” and Theresa Neal Griffin.
