Thomas William Davie, 76, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 20, 1947 in Esslingen, Germany to Ruth Lena Rayer and Ernest William Davie Sr, an American soldier stationed near there. When he was only a baby, Tom
sailed to the United States with his mother and older brother to rejoin with his father. As a military family, they lived in many places including New York, South Carolina, Colorado, Japan and Utah. When his father's military career ended, the family relocated to Afton, Wyoming where Tom graduated from Star Valley High School in 1966. In 1964, while still in high school, Tom joined the Army National Guard and served for eleven years until he was honorably discharged in 1975. Soon after graduation, Tom moved to Pocatello, Idaho where he met the love of his life, Diane Hensley. They have been happily married for 55 years and together have raised three beautiful boys. Tom loved his children more than anything. Family and baseball have been Tom and Diane’s life. Along with his best friend, Clarence Cody, Tom coached and umpired baseball for 38 years. He has long been a staple of the Pocatello/Chubbuck baseball community and was loved by all. Tom Davie Field remains at Cotant Park, where so many memories were made and his legacy will live on forever.
Tom is preceded in death by both of his parents; his next younger brother, Ernest William Davie Jr. and a baby brother born while the family lived in New York. He is survived and mourned by his loving wife, Diane, and by his children, Mark William (Rindy) Davie, Sterling Squeak William (Donna) Davie, and Russ Lee (Kim) Davie; by his grandchildren, Mattie Lee (Braxton) Peterson, Tieray Riun Davie, Rhyain Rayelin (Jordyn) Clayborn, Mallery June Davie, Gracie Lu Davie; great grandchildren, Winston William Clayborn, Hutch William Peterson; siblings, Frank Davie, Edison Davie, Rose Bench, Patricia Anthony, Charles Davie; by Mick and Kathy Reynolds who were like family and by many other friends who will miss him.
