Theresa Samora

November 1, 1965 — February 24, 2022

Theresa Marie Samora passed away at home on February 24, 2022 following a long illness. She was born in Rawlins Wyoming on November 1, 1965. Theresa was the third child born to Oliver P Samora Sr and Irene Sena.

She grew up on the Southside of Rawlins where she enjoyed hanging out with her older brother, cousins and friends. She especially enjoyed playing sports like basketball and football or even scrapping with them. She was very active at the county fair where she won several ribbons with her rabbits. She began playing sports in the 7th grade. She was a three-letter-athlete in track, basketball, and volleyball. Theresa was also active in both the marching and school bands where she played the trumpet.

The family moved to Laramie, Wyoming in 1983 and she graduated from there in 1984. In 1989 she moved to Sun Valley, Idaho where she was both a cook and baker. While cooking in Sun Valley she had people, including celebrities, that would only go into the restaurant if she was working that day. In 1995, she moved to Pocatello, Idaho to be near her nephew, Antonio, where she was a cook for Chartwells, JB’s Big Boy, Denny’s, Sizzler, Golden Corral, and ended her career at Applebee’s. She was there for several years. Outside of work she was an avid horseshoe thrower for Duffy’s. She also loved to throw darts.

She was an usher at St. Joseph’s (Catholic Church), she was also a basketball coach for the St. Anthony All Stars as well as a referee. She would go through two boxes of hot tamales, which she called her blood pressure meds, every game. She loved music, like her brother and if she was ever disagreeing with someone about the title, the album, or whatever she would call him and get the details from him then tell the person, “See, I told you.

She is survived by her parents Oliver P Samora Sr and Irene Samora; older brother Oliver (Charity) Samora, Jr; younger sister Serena (Josh) Mendez; nephews – Antonio and Patrick; nieces – Alexia, Ariyah, several foster nieces and nephews and several family members on both sides.

She was preceded in death by her older sister Dianah, younger brother Joseph, both maternal and paternal grandparents, along with several other family members.

Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Chapel, 439 N. Hayes Avenue Pocatello, Idaho 83204 on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 10:00 am.

We’d like to thank Encompass Health – Hospice for their loving care and acts of kindness to our sister. Cremation care was entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home.
