Terry Bailey

January 7, 1937 — June 4, 2018

Terry Bailey, husband, father, fisherman and "damn good" engineer, died at his home on June 4, 2018.

Terry was born on January 7, 1937 at the family home in Dingle, Idaho, to Daniel Warren and Marie Sparks Bailey. He shared his home with his parents and three sisters; Dorothy, Linda, and Vicky.

He was raised by his parents in the Dingle and Crow Creek areas of Idaho, near Bear Lake. He started working when he was a young boy; first traveling with his Grandfather Sparks in the chuck wagon helping to; feed area ranch-hands meals and bring in stray calves. He always helped his dad with the ranch work and took care of the chores at home. As a teenager he worked for several farmers and ranchers in the area and spent many summers working and fishing in the mountains he so loved.

He met the love of his life, Bea Bell, at a New Year's Eve dance and they have been inseparable ever since. Terry and Bea moved a lot in the early years of their marriage, finally ending up in Moscow, Idaho, where Terry returned to college and finished earning his Civil Engineering Degree.

As an engineering student he worked for the State of Idaho designing and building many bridges in the Coeur D' Alene National Forest. This allowed his family to enjoy living among the forests and lakes of Northern Idaho during those summer months.

He designed and helped build the "spaghetti bowl" (the area where I-15 meets I-80) in Salt Lake City and many highway projects near Taos, New Mexico.

In 1972, Terry and the family moved to Pocatello where he worked for JUB Engineering and then opened his own firm. His peers, his clients and the people he served respected Terry throughout his engineering career.

He finished his career in engineering as the Bannock County Engineer retiring in 2001.

Terry was a master craftsman; he loved building boats and furniture, including a beautiful crib for each of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; Beatrice Bell, his three children Lizbeth (Dallas) Ward; Curt (Dana) Bailey; and Susan (Larry) Christensen, 15 Grand Children and 40 Great-Grand Children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters and many beloved Aunts and Uncles.

The family will receive guests Sunday, June 10 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Chapel located at 2300 Butte Street Pocatello, Idaho. Interment will follow services in the Mt. View Cemetery.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
