Ted L. Tyler

June 7, 1932 — December 15, 2011

Ted Lawrence Tyler, 79, of Chubbuck, Idaho, passed away 15 December 2011, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Ted was born in Pocatello to Lenora Sarah Christina Davidson and Dorus HARVEY Tyler on 7 June 1932. He was the eighth of ten children. Ted enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict in 1951. He was a Baker while on active duty but decided he loved it and stayed in as a reservist for 35+ years.

While stationed in San Diego, California, he met and married Margaret Rogers of Pacific Beach, CA (preceded him in death 1 Sep 1991) 3 Dec 1954 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Born to and surviving them are six children: Ronald Lee of San Diego, CA; Mark Lawrence of Payson, UT; Julie Ann (Bruce) Allison of Lehi, UT; Scott Douglas (Janet) of Provo, UT; Pamela Kay (Brian) Tuft of Springville, UT; T. Michael (Julie) of Taylorsville, UT. Together Ted and Margaret have 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ted married Sharon Lynn Reid Perkins on 8 May 1994 in Canyon Lake, CA. Sharon preceded him in death 24 Jan 2007. He has always loved her three children very much. Also surviving Ted are Sharolyn (Bruce) Twambly of Ellicott City, MD; Yancy Perkins of Miami Beach , FL; and Tiffany Perkins of Holiday, FL and five grandchildren.

Also survived by siblings Ruth Christiansen; Sister-in-Law, Tina Tyler; Lynn (Marie) Tyler; Glenn (Loa) Tyler all of Pocatello, ID; Rosella (Ron) Boman of Logan, UT currently serving in Barbados of the West Indies LDS Mission. Welcoming him back “home” are his parents, siblings: Louise (Winston) McOmber; Doris (Valden) Pitcher; Raymon; Reed (Genee); Sister-in-law Lorraine Dilworth Tyler; Dale (Nea).

Ted is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has a strong testimony of the restored gospel. Having loved serving in many capacities, he has been serving most recently in Special Mutual, working with disabled kids/adults. He truly loves those “kids” and the people with whom he served.

Ted's love of baking has served his family and friends well over the years due to the cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, cookies and bread he was constantly baking so he could take to his friends. That will be one thing about Ted that we will all miss a lot, but mostly his gregarious and humorous personality. He never met a stranger and has a gift of being a “people person.”

Having lived in Idaho; Moorhead, Minnesota, Fargo, North Dakota, and Poway, California, working in the Insurance business and then in California as a self-employed Masonry/General Contractor. With his perfectionism and creative abilities he surely pleased a lot of people sharing his talents. He loves to figure out and build things and his brain was working like that until the very end.
