Sylvia "Silver" Malan

May 23, 1934 — March 1, 2025

Pocatello

Sylvia passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025. She joins her loving husband of 64 years, Gordon Lewis Malan, who passed away in 2017.

Sylvia was born May 23, 1934, to William Marks and Zina D. Hatch. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1952. That same year, she married Gordon, and together they raised three children: Bob, Jess, and LonniRae.

Sylvia and her husband shared many interests and dedicated much of their time as activities directors for the LDS church: teaching ballroom and folk dance, directing plays, and decorating floats for community parades. Sylvia enjoyed collecting books, drawing, and painting. But she found her greatest happiness hiking in the mountains among the pine trees.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Malan, her parents William Marks and Zina D. Hatch, her sister Geneve Dayley, her great-grandson Louis Speas, and her nephews, Harley Hatch and Brett Lusk.

Sylvia is survived by her son Bob (Rhonda) Malan, son Jess Malan, daughter LonniRae (Destry) Jones, granddaughter McKinzee (Jaysun) Speas, grandson Aden Jones, great-granddaughters AddiLynn and Murphee Speas, sister CaroLynne (Steve) Lusk, brother William (Linda) Hatch, brother-in-law Kent Dayley, and her many nephews and nieces.

Sylvia was loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many loyal and caring friends.
