Susan Janette Probart

d. June 14, 2015

Susan Janette Probart, 67, beloved sister and friend passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Portneuf Medical Center. Susan was born on May 8, 1948, the third child of Lewis and Wilma Probart. She graduated from Pocatello High School and attended two years at Idaho State University. Susans childhood was spent at the family home on Bannock Highway. She enjoyed riding the family horses, but her real joy was cooking with her mother. Susan inherited Wilmas cooking talent and became a master baker and cake decorator. Susan loved to travel, especially to Yellowstone Park, and made a yearly pilgrimage to the Park. Her love of Yellowstone began as a child on family horseback trips into the Park on her horse, Stormy. She also loved the Salmon River country and watching and listening to the ocean waves on the Oregon Coast. Susan enjoyed reading, crafting, cooking, and spending time with family. Family was important to Susan and she made a special effort to bring many friends into her family circle. Susan worked for Bannock/Portneuf Medical Center for 34 years in the dietary department. She enjoyed visiting with patients and was known for leaving personal notes on patients food trays. Susan fought a long, courageous battle with renal disease. The excellent care of the staff of the Idaho Kidney Institute in Pocatello was appreciated. Even on the hard days, Susan had a smile and a hug for those around her. Her final years were greatly enhanced by the wonderful companionship and compassionate care by her sister, Bonnie. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Wilma, and brother, Capt. L DeVern Probart. She is survived by sisters, Judy (Leroy) Long of Nounan; Bonnie Probart and Debra (Rick) Cheatum of Pocatello; Carol Buckley and Penny (Terry) Barnes of Idaho Falls, and Randy Stoner, plus nieces, nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10:30 am at the LDS Church, 550 W. Cedar St. (Corner of Cedar and Poole St.) Pocatello, ID 83201. Arrangements are under the care of Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500. Condolences can be made to the family online at www.colonial-funeralhome.com
