Susan Dixon

Susan "Sue" Dixon, adored wife, mother, daughter, teacher, and friend, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018. Susan and her beautiful, gravitational energy have left a legacy of light, love, and the lasting reminder to follow your heart, again and again. The world became a little brighter on March 4, 1954. Susan first made her mark as a daughter to Shirley Heer, and a sister to Mike, Kelli, Jon, and Myllissa. She was always ready with a good-humored quip to put her family back in their place. Sue loved her siblings and their families. Through the years she spent time enjoying them all during goofy family get-togethers and easy afternoons by the pool. In 1975, she was already a devoted mother to Terri and Jim, when she met Marvin Dixon who would transform her heart and life. Together they welcomed Jaysen, and their family grew with an abundance of love. Susan was a proud, loving, and spontaneous grandmother to Alex, Logan, Terren, Emma, and Adalaide. Sue and Marvs marriage was a masterclass on shared passions, friendship, and joy. In their years together they shared both adventures and heartache, but their palpable connection and unending love saw them through - every time. A lifelong learner and ready teacher, Susan obtained her Bachelors degree from ISU in 2001. With her degree in Special Education she taught at Mountain View Middle School, Blackfoot High School, and Highland High School touching lives with a devoted and progressive approach to teaching. Always a seeker, the last decade brought peace and understanding into Sues life. She was a devoted practitioner of Shamanism, and believed wholly in the ability to heal your body, mind, and soul. She was wholeheartedly grateful and in awe of the community that welcomed her with open arms, and she grew into a respected and appreciated member. Not one for small talk, Sue specialized in deep conversations, followed by deeper laughs. She was at her best surrounded by friends or family discussing dogs, swimming, good food, life, and loss. She loved being connected to people and making people feel connected. It was one of her greatest gifts. Her ability to shine and let people shine will be missed by all. More than anything Sue loved to be in the company of good-hearted, wholesome, selfless people. That being said, she mostly loved being in the company of her dogs. Lady, Maggie, Weisa, Bella, and Jetta were the loves of her life. In honor of them all, the family asks that in lieu of flowers you give all donations to the Pocatello Humane Society. The family invites friends, family, and students to join them at an open house on Wednesday, September 12 th , 2018. Stop in any time after 12:00 p.m. at 4210 Johnny Creek Road. This will be a celebration of Sues life; please come ready to share your best stories, fondest memories, and most beautiful moments.
