Steven Odell Hatch, 65, of Pocatello, passed away May 5, 2016.
Steve was born in Malad, Idaho and moved to Pocatello with his family when he was a young boy. He graduated from Pocatello High School.
Steve proudly served his country in the Army and completed a tour of duty in the Vietnam War.
Steve married Gail Leavitt of Pocatello. They were later divorced. He subsequently married Tammy Naylor of Pocatello.
Steve worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for many years. He then worked for the US Postal Service for 12 more years and retired in 2013.
Steve loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and particularly hunting. He loved wild game meat, and would make knife handles from the horn and leather items such as wallets and key chains from the hides. Steve also enjoyed working with wood and crafted several beautiful tables made from discarded alder wood pallets.
Steve was a kind, compassionate man who was good to his wife and family and was quick to help others. He had a soft spot for horses and pets.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph B. and Vesta June Hatch; a step-mother Lavon Hatch. He is survived by his wife, Tammy hatch; brother, Glenn (Betty) Hatch; step-brother, Garth Win; two sons, Shawn (Machell) Hatch, Pocatello; Nick (Beth) Hatch, Pocatello; step-daughter, Cherie Hughes Shelley; step-son, David Hughes, Chubbuck; and grandchildren, Tallon and Malynn Hatch, Nickolas Hatch, and Michael and Shania Underhill.
Steve wanted no funeral and no fuss. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
