Steven Earl Newman, 75, passed away on June 5, 2024. He was born on January 26, 1949, in Layton, Utah. He started school life in Ogden, Utah for Kindergarten and first grade, and moved to Pocatello and went to Tyhee Elementary and finished second through fifth grades. He attended Hawthorne for his middle school years and continued his education until 1966 at Highland High School, where he met Carol Campanella, and they started dating. He spent some time in Clearfield, Utah to help take care of his mother, and that is where he graduated in 1967. He then moved back to Pocatello to continue the relationship with Carol, who he married on July 10, 1968. They divorced in 1984. He later married Lily Petersen, and they were together until her passing in 2016.
Steve had a variety of jobs, starting at the age of 16. He found stabilization with Simplot as a boiler operator where he retired after 30 years of service.
Steve enjoyed such hobbies as woodworking and scrapbooking, and he especially loved his music. He enjoyed traveling and taking thousands of photos. He enjoyed his early retirement to the fullest.
He is survived by his daughters, Christi (Eddy) Seaton, Angela (James) Mollett, and Mandi Williams, and several grandkids and great grandkids, all of Pocatello, Idaho.
He is preceded in death by Mae Friedel (momsie), Kenneth Peterson, Lily Newman, Lori Newman (daughter), Keith Williams (son-in-law), and Patty Payne (sister).
A viewing will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID. Graveside service will be on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, E. Menan Lorenzo Hwy, Rigby, ID.
