Steve Dale Teuscher passed away November 20, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He was born June 16, 1948, at the Old General Hospital in Pocatello to Dennis Reuben Teuscher and Betty June Harris. He attended Whittier and Emerson Elementary Schools and Irving and Hawthorne Jr. High Schools, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1967. He was involved in baseball and football in his youth.
He grew up south of town and had wonderful memories of roaming the hills and getting into mischief with his younger brother Randy. They had many great stories to tell.
He married his high school sweetheart, Connie Rytting and they were blessed with four children – sons Travis, Jason and Tyler, daughter Audrey, and nine precious grandchildren. This year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They lived in the same home for 45 years.
Steven was a kind, gentle, cheerful man with a wonderful sense of humor which continued even through his illness. He made our home a happy place filled with love and laughter. He had a deep love for his family and was most happy with a sweet grandchild cuddled on his lap. He was a spiritual man with a deep faith in God.
He had a love of learning. He loved learning and studying about history, the earth, stars and planets. He was artistic and liked to make pencil sketches, polish rocks and work with metal and wood. He spent countless hours carving beautiful, detailed wood creations and nearly everyone that visited our home took home one of his carvings. He had a natural ability to fix almost anything.
He had a great love of the outdoors. He loved to hunt. Deer and elk season, and duck and goose season were family events every year. But his favorite thing of all was fishing; from ice fishing to anywhere else he could drown a worm. The family enjoyed a cabin in Irwin for many years and he was most happy trolling around Palisades Reservoir in his boat or fishing on Greys River.
Steven worked for 34 years at FMC as a heavy equipment operator, and was working as training chief when the plant closed. He enjoyed operating equipment and was skilled at it. He then worked at INL and did other heavy equipment work and driving jobs until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his son Travis and his father Dennis. He is survived by; his wife Connie; children, Audrey (Ryan) Hopkins, Tyler (Alicia Hales), both of Meridian, and Jason (Tara Swallow) of Pocatello; his mother Betty; brother, Randy (Vicki); grandsons, Connor, Aidan and Davis Hopkins, A.J., Liam and Ewan Teuscher, and granddaughters Madysen, Taeler, and Ava Teuscher.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Heather, Sagean and Katie of Encompass Hospice, his dear friends Don and Deon, our friends at Faith Lutheran Church, and all of our family and friends who have offered love and support during this ordeal. We appreciate and love all of you.
