Steven Quinn Clinkscales, 74, died of natural causes in his hometown of Pocatello, Idaho on March 10, 2020. Steve was born on October 2, 1945 to Burton and Erma Clinkscales. He is the 2nd oldest of 4 kids.
Steve graduated from Pocatello High School in 1964. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Janet, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on August 27, 1965. Together they had 2 sons, Troy and Shane, whom Steve was very proud of.
Steve loved to go camping and fishing. He shared this love with Janet and their boys and continued the tradition with his grandkids. He also enjoyed gardening, 4 wheelers, and motorcycles. In the summer he could often be found out puttering in his garden.
Steve had several careers during his life. He worked as a baker, owned a mechanic shop, and was an LPN…..to name a few. He was a hard worker who always found time to volunteer. Steve served as a reserve officer for the Chubbuck Police Department. He was a member of Bannock County Search and Rescue for over 20 years.
Steve loved being a grandpa. He often invited everyone over to BBQ or made up excuses to get the grandkids to visit. Grandpa could always be counted on to have peanut M&M's and Coke ready to share. It is said he made the best spaghetti and camping eggs ever. Grandpa was always up for adventure whether it was going on a 4 wheeler ride or trying to surf down the snow covered hill next to their house. Steve's grandkids have great memories of him bouncing them on his knee as toddlers and sharing his buddy mug of Coke as soon as they were old enough to drink through a straw. As they got older he taught them how to fish and let them help start the campfire.
Steven is survived by his wife, Janet Mitton Clinkscales; His brother, Sidney (Trudy) Clinkscales; His sister, Jamie Ramsayer; His 2 sons, Troy Clinkscales, and Shane (Nicole) Clinkscales; 6 grandchildren; and many other cherished family and friends. Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Erma Clinkscales; and his sister, Diane Bosted.
Steve was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a deep love for his Savior. Steve lived a full life. He worked hard, played hard, and helped those around him. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
