Skyler Whitnah age 22 of American Falls lost his life Sunday, September 20, 2014 in a fatal car crash.
Skyler Jordan Whitnah was born to Nora Whitnah on January 14, 1992. He was the second oldest son of Nora's and younger brother to Devin Whitnah and big brother to Sister Cheyanne Howell and Brother Colten Howell.
Skyler attended Grace Lutheran School and Indian Hills for grade school. He then attended Irving Middle School and went on to Pocatello High School where he graduated in 2010.
Throughout his young life Skyler participated in many activities- Baseball, Football, Camping, Fishing, Riding and Hunting. Skyler was good at most things he tried.
Skyler was a happy child. He enjoyed spending a lot of time at his grandparent's ranch in American Falls. He liked to earn money by trapping gophers for Grandpa Whitnah. He and his brother Devin also spent a lot of time riding their small motorcycles on the ranch. Skyler particularly liked hunting. Every October he would go hunt with his Dad, brothers and friends. Hunting camp every year was not just a place but an event. Whether they bagged anything or not they would all bond and have many stories to tell for years to come. Skyler was a particular good shot. He liked to shoot just about anything –whether it was targets or animals. He also enjoyed going to Island Park every year with his family for the rodeo. It was a family vacation that always ended in a float down the river.
Although Skyler went through a dark time - he had worked hard and found his way back and was living a good life. He was inspiring to others. Showing them you can change your life. He was a strong young man, working hard. He was in a good place.
Skyler enjoyed spending time with friends and he had many. They will all miss him.
Skyler was full of life and smiles. He had a great smile and unusual laugh. His eyes would sparkle and his big grin would just warm your heart. He was sometimes quiet but always full of thought. He was sensitive and compassionate. His family will feel his loss but keep him in our hearts and thoughts every day.
At the time of his death he was employed at Schlotzsky's Deli in Pocatello.
Services will be held at Wilks Funeral Home. Viewings will be Wednesday September 24th from 6-8pm and Thursday Sept. 25th 12:30-1:30pm, followed by the life service at 2:00 pm.
