Shirley Marie Blessinger

January 3, 1936 — March 11, 2024

Shirley Blessinger, 88, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at a local care facility.


Shirley Blessinger was born in Hays KS, on January 3, 1936, to Harold and Clara Novis. Shirley was raised in Hays KS until her family moved to Pocatello ID in 1951. She graduated from Pocatello High School.


She met Harry Blessinger, and they married in 1958. They were married for 52 years before his passing in 2010. Shirley attended ISU and earned her nursing degree. She worked as an LPN for many years, and retired from ISU Student Health Center.


Shirley was a devoted catholic and loved St. Joseph’s church. She also belonged to the Elks Lodge where she was a DOE for many years and had many friends from the DOEs.


Shirley enjoyed camping, fishing, and pulling the handle at Fort Hall Casino.


Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry, her sister Charlette, brothers Donnie and Duane, son Randy, and daughter-in-law Tammy.


She is survived by her sons, Rick (Deanna), Rocky (Jackie), and Kent (Colleen) all of Pocatello. Her Brother Bobby (Carolyn) Novis and sisters Lois Boodry and Nadine Lambert, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog Justice.


Shirley was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.


Services will be held at Wilkes Funeral Home on Friday, March 22, 2024. Services will start at 11:00 AM, with a light luncheon to follow.


Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations to one of the following: The Pocatello Animal Shelter or The Humane Society.
