Sheryl Lee (Taylor) Budge Truchot, 64, passed away from an 18 month battle with breast cancer on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in her home with her husband and five daughters at her side.
Sheryl was born on February 19, 1945 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. At the age of five her mother, Geneese Cahoon, married ValDee Taylor who lovingly adopted her. Sheryl was raised in Pocatello, Idaho, where she attended school, graduating from Pocatello High in 1963.
Sheryl, deeply rooted in her faith, sought only to do that which was right. This came when in her youth she assisted her grandmother, Venita Call Cahoon, in serving the prophets and apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as her grandfather Roscoe Cahoon served as stake president in Pocatello. It was also at an early age that she dedicated herself to the Lord by preparing her five younger siblings for church and then walking them there each Sunday. With this same faith and obedience she taught her eight children to love and serve the Lord. Sheryl is preceded in death by her husband Roger Keith Budge of 34 years. Sheryl and Roger were married on November 30, 1962. Shortly thereafter they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they raised their children in Pocatello, Rexburg, Boise and Mesa, Arizona. They returned to Boise in 1994.
We would like to honor Donald Dewayne Truchot who willingly filled the void in our hearts as husband and father for the last six years. Sheryl and Don were married September 11, 2003 and resided in Fort Hall, Idaho. Don loved his wife Sheryl with all his heart and blessed her life with the joy of companionship. He accepted her eight children and 29 grandchildren as his own. He is a part of our family in every sense of the word. In Don Sheryl found a consistent, honorable and devoted friend whom she deeply loved. We thank him for compassionately caring for her throughout their marriage, especially the last 18 months of her life.
Sheryl enjoyed family life and held many callings in the church. She was a keeper of friends. She treasured her lifelong friendships and nurtured them regularly. She spent time dancing, bowling, snowmobiling, four wheeling, reading, laughing and traveling across country by motor home to spend time with children, grandchildren and friends.
Sheryl is survived by her husband Donald Dewayne Truchot, eight children and three step-children, Scott (Steffanie) Budge of Cypress, TX, Steven (Michelle) Budge of Gilbert, AZ, Jennilyn (Brian) Preece of Nampa, ID, Angi (Pete) Peterson of Mesa, AZ, Jeffery Budge of Tempe, AZ, Melissa (Jeff) Wadsworth of Nampa, ID, Cynthia (Blair) Giles of Vienna, VA, Stephanie Budge of Chandler, AZ, Dawn (Dave) Zunino of Rupert, ID, Darren (Cindy) Truchot of Eagle, ID, and Sheri (Trenton) Schmidt of San Diego, CA. Sheryl is also survived by 33 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her father ValDee Taylor and siblings Rick Taylor, Valory Kennedy, Bart Taylor, Melanie Jacobs and Layne Taylor. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger, and her mother.
We thank those who cared for Sheryl throughout her battle with breast cancer; Teton Oncology, Madison Memorial Hospital, Creekside Hospice and all the many members of the Pocatello 44th Ward. We recognize the deep love and admiration Sheryl had for her many friends and are grateful for the love she received in return.
