Shamae Gneiting Lyon

June 11, 1983 — October 20, 2013

Shamae Gneiting Lyon, 30, of Pocatello, Idaho, beloved mother, wife, daughter and sister returned to the loving arms of her heavenly Father on Sunday, October 20, 2013.

She was born June 11, 1983 in Blackfoot, Idaho, the daughter of Daniel D. Gneiting and Kathy Carlile Gneiting. She married Loren Lyon on November 23, 2002, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and together were raising three young daughters.

Shamae was the second oldest daughter of five children who loved the outdoors and had a passion for adventure. She was raised in Sterling, Idaho and attended schools in Aberdeen, Idaho, where she was actively involved in sports, 4-H and held many leadership positions, and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 2001. She later attended Idaho State University, graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in History and a minor in English.

Shamae was the kind of person that you don't forget, with wisdom beyond her years; she impacted the lives of many through her compassion for service and helping others. You could always count on Shamae to be the first one there for someone in need. Her life's passion became clear when her oldest daughter, Sydney was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes at the age of four. She worked tirelessly as an advocate to find a cure and was a support and friend to many other parents throughout the country struggling to understand Diabetes, always giving comfort, advice and a sympathetic ear and shoulder to cry on.

Shamae was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Alameda 6th Ward where she was in charge of producing the ward bulletin and taught a youth Sunday School class with her husband. She was proficient in sign language and was an interpreter for the congregation.

She leaves behind her husband, Loren and daughters, Sydney, Morgan and Hadlee of Pocatello, ID; parents, Daniel Gneiting (Deb Jensen) of Sterling, ID, Kathy Carlile Gneiting (Marc Weinpel) of Idaho Falls, ID; three sisters, Krystal (Mike) Dixon of Boise, ID; Malory (Dallen) Lambson of Pocatello, ID; Hailey Gneiting of Idaho Falls; one brother, Gabriel Gneiting of Sterling, ID; grandparents, Richard L. Carlile of American Falls, ID; Ruth Gneiting of Sterling, ID; nine nieces, eleven nephews and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Shamae was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nancy "Nana" Carlile, grandfather, Keith Gneiting, and an uncle, Richard W. Carlile.

Funeral services for Shamae will be held at 11:00 am at Alameda LDS Stake Center, 930 East Alameda, (on the corner of East Alameda and Jefferson) in Pocatello, Idaho. A viewing will be held Friday, October 25th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Interment will take place at the Sterling-Springfield Cemetery.
