It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sena Gunnell, 13, who tragically died in a water accident on July 20, 2024. Born on May 5, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas, to Van and Shu-Chuan Liu Gunnell. Sena lived the first ten years of her life in Texas and moved to Idaho in 2021.
Sena was a bright and vibrant soul who loved animals, exploring the outdoors, playing an abundance of musical instruments to include the piano, the ukulele, the clarinet and the oboe. During a recent trip to Taiwan to visit her grandparents, Sena discovered the enchanting sound of the ocarina and fell in love with playing it. Sena's adventurous spirit and zest for life were evident in everything she did from creating beautiful drawings to exploring the world. She had a deep passion for animals to include taking care of her pet gecko, Izzy and her fish, Bilius.
Sena is survived by her loving family, including her mom and dad, older brother, Logan, her sister, Xela and her little brother Halden. Sena shared an extraordinary bond with Halden, who has special needs. Her unique ability to soothe and understand him made her his protector and champion, a role she will undoubtedly continue as his guardian angel. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had the goal to serve a full-time mission.
In addition to her love for animals, the outdoors, and music, Sena had a curious mind and a thirst for knowledge. She was an avid reader, a competitive runner, and aspired to be a theater performer and enjoyed the exploration of different languages and cultures and ways of life through various avenues. Sena's adventurous spirit and kind heart touched the lives of everyone she met, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Sena's passing is a profound loss, but her family takes comfort in knowing that she lived life to the fullest and one day will be reunited in Heaven.
