On the night of April 7, 2016 a family lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a nephew, and an uncle in one final breath. Scott "Scotty" Williamson of Chubbuck was 45 years old when he died at home in his sleep. His spirit will be carried on by his daughter, Katelyn and his wife, Kelly. He and Kelly, daughter of Udell and Susan Hedstrom of Pocatello, were married in 1992 in Station Square. After a brief stint in Portland working for Union Pacific, Scotty followed in his father's footsteps to a career with the phone company. He brought his family back to Pocatello and began work as a certified data technician. In 2014, Scotty received an award from the Department of Homeland Security for his work in cybersecurity. He would have hated for us to mention that, by the way. He was a modest and private man with a great big heart. Scotty loved his wife and daughter more than anything. If you got to be his friend, he would always be there for you. He looked tough, but he cried at his sister's wedding. He was an awesome daddy who would work all day, every day, under the hot Idaho sun and come home to play in the kiddie pool with little Katelyn. He and Kelly had an open-door policy at their home for all the children in their Chubbuck neighborhood. He patiently let his niece, Madeline, and nephew, Kenny, climb all over him and tug on his long gray beard. He never complained once. He proudly refused to wear a suit, he never smiled for the camera, and he listened to everything from the Talking Heads to Megadeath, depending on the mood. Scotty was born in California and moved to Idaho with his parents, Scott and Bonnie Williamson, along with his baby sister, Kimberly, in 1976. Scott and Bonnie remember a little Scotty as a "fart in a skillet" who would often disappear from the house, giving his mother small heart attacks and mini strokes. Like a good Idahoan he enjoyed camping and fishing, he loved his pets, and he wore a baseball cap everywhere he went. He tried to love the San Diego Chargers and never gave them up for a better team, like some people we know . He attended Tendoy Elementary, Alameda Junior High, and he graduated from Pocatello High School without skipping school much more than a dozen times. He will be remembered as kind, loving, generous, protective, supportive, and easy-going. He would have grumbled about such a long write-up, but his friends and family love him and they want everyone to know what a great guy he was. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11 am by the good people at Grace Lutheran Church, 1350 Baldy Ave. Pocatello, ID 83201. Friends and family have been so kind and generous in response to Scottys passing. If you wish to give, please give love freely and be kind to everyone you meet. Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, is caring for Scotts family and condolences may be made online at www.colonial-funeralhome.com
