POCATELLO - Sally Lou (Greenslade) Taniguchi, 78, loving mother, grandmother and wife, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 due to an extended illness. Sally was born February 12, 1934 on a farm in Harlan County, Iowa to Ernest and Merna Jensen. The family moved to Oakland, CA in 1941 where she graduated from high school. In 1960 she moved to Portland, OR and then to Pocatello in June 1966. Sally worked as a secretary and then manager of Pine Bowling Center from 1970 to 1980. It is there were she developed her deep and lasting friendships with people of the bowling community. After leaving Pine Bowling Center she worked for Senator Steve Symms and Senator Dirk Kempthorne for a total of 18 years. She became extremely active with the Idaho State Republican Party and served on executive boards for over 9 years. Sally loved bowling and at times bowled up to 4 nights a week and continued to bowl until her illness prevented her. She always supported her grandchildren when they bowled by attending their tournaments around the state, even after her illness made it difficult. She loved the mountains and spent many a summer in Island Park camping and fishing with her family. She enjoyed her trips to Jackpot with her husband and in her later years the trip was the highlight of her year. She also enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz, dabbling in the stock market and reading. Sally is survived by her husband Henry Taniguchi of 19 years; daughter, Leslie (Jeff) Anglesey of American Falls, son, Mark (Cristy) Salcedo of West Bountiful, UT; grandchildren, Jesse (Sarah) Anglesey of Grace, ID, Scott (Rebecca) Anglesey of American Falls, Kevin (Britney) Anglesey of Lehi, UT, Sarah (Bill) Carter of American Falls, Amber (Joe) Larsen of St. Louis, MO, Michael Salcedo, Ryan Salcedo both of Pocatello, brother Carroll (Norma) Jensen of Twin Falls and sister LaRee (Robert) Graham of Peoria, AZ and 17 great grandchildren. The family would like give sincere thanks to the Portneuf Cancer Center, Dr. Francisco, Chris, Mary, Carol and Saralee. Also to Portneuf Infusion Therapy for their tender care and friendship. As per her wish, Sally's Memorial Services will be held 3:30pm Friday, February 24, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. Fourth Ave in Pocatello. Family will receive friends and loved ones at 2:00pm prior to the Memorial Services. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1145, Blackfoot, ID 83221. Video Tribute:
