Sally Rose Neihart, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 16, 2024, at Gateway Transitional Care Center in Pocatello, Idaho.
Sally was born on January 1, 1947, to Dillard Miller and Ruth Ashcroft Miller in Pocatello, Idaho. She attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Irving Junior High School, and graduated from Highland High School. She worked as a waitress at the Five Mile Bar and the Green T. She also worked at Lamb Weston and in several nursing homes.
For over 20 years, Sally loved working as a foster grandma in elementary schools for School District 25. It brought her so much joy to love those children.
Sally was married to Arthur Eugene Neihart for 43 years before his passing in 2017.
She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As a foster grandmother, as well as a “mom” to everyone who knew her, Sally deeply loved family.
In her free time, she worked on many talents including arts and crafts, drawing, and painting. She enjoyed watching stock car races, horse races, reading, playing Blackjack “21”, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Whether baking, cooking, crafting, or drawing, she was a great teacher to her children and grandchildren. Spending time with her family, above all else, was Sally’s favorite pursuit.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents Dillard and Ruth Miller, husband Arthur Eugene Neihart, granddaughter Rose Marie Neihart, and aunt Arlene Barker.
She is survived by her sons, Travis Neihart of Pocatello, ID and Shaun Neihart of Meridian, ID; siblings Cathy Miller, Dicky Miller, and Barbara Marley of Pocatello, ID, Terry Delacruz of Inkom, ID, Dorothy Barnes of CA, and Nancy Green of IL; four grandchildren: Sondra Neihart, Erica Neihart, and Alysha Neihart of Pocatello, ID, and S.J. Neihart of Meridian, ID; and six great-grandchildren.
Sally will be greatly missed. The family expresses their gratitude to Wilks Funeral Homes and the many friends and family who helped, checked in, and kept us sane during a difficult time.
